Which Macs does Lysten work on?
Any Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 26 or later. It looks best on MacBooks with a notch, but it also works on Macs without one and on external displays, where the prompter hangs from the menu bar.
Does my audio leave my Mac?
No. Transcription and translation happen entirely on your Mac with Apple's on-device frameworks. Lysten has no servers, no account and no analytics.
Does Lysten record what I hear?
Never. Audio is not recorded or stored. Captions stay in memory; if you save a transcript (Pro), only the text is kept, on your Mac.
Which languages are supported?
Dozens of spoken languages, including Turkish, can be transcribed, and you can translate into the language of your choice. Lysten uses Apple's Speech and Translation models, so translation quality follows Apple's on-device models. You can pick Fastest or Most accurate.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only once per language, to download its model. After that, Lysten works offline. Purchases are processed by Apple.
How does the free plan work?
You get 10 minutes of heard speech every day. Silence doesn't count, only time when speech is detected. All languages, both audio sources, both layouts, preset themes and text sizes are free.
Can Lysten listen to just one app?
Yes, with Lysten Pro. Pick an app such as your meeting app and every other sound is ignored. Web apps installed from Chrome, Edge or Brave play through the browser, so they can't be separated from it; use the service's Mac app instead.
Can I pay once instead of subscribing?
Yes. Lysten Pro Lifetime is a one-time purchase that unlocks every Pro feature on your Apple Account with no further payments. It doesn't renew and has no free trial. In Lysten, choose Upgrade to Lysten Pro…, then Buy Lifetime under “Or pay once”.
I already subscribe. What happens if I buy Lifetime?
Your subscription keeps running, because buying Lifetime doesn't cancel it. Cancel it in your App Store account settings so it doesn't renew. Lysten reminds you in Settings › Subscription.
How do I cancel Lysten Pro?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open your App Store account settings to change or cancel at any time. Lysten Pro Lifetime is a one-time purchase, so there's nothing to cancel.
